For many years now the BK 117 from Eurocopter has ranked as one of the classics of the helicopter world. The type is already available from us in model form, together with many accessories; this has a relatively small rotor diameter of 1600 mm, and is suitable for Sky Fox or Petrol mechanics.

However, a larger model is called for if you want a turbine-powered version, and this machine has a rotor diameter of 2100 mm. The forward cockpit space can be fitted out completely, and in many other respects scale fans have plenty of scope for additional detail features: working side doors - hinged or sliding - can be installed, and functional rear doors are also possible. If you wish, you can even fit a working crane which can be controlled from the RC transmitter.

The four-blade main rotor requires a lot of servo power, and the rotor head servos must have sufficient torque and holding power for adequate control. We use Futaba S9206 units exclusively to actuate the swashplates of our larger models, and we have had nothing but good experience with them.
If you prefer to use different types of servo, please ensure that their specifications are adequate - in practice as well as on paper - as some types can only deliver their full performance for brief periods of operation (overheating!). Under unfavourable circumstances such servos may give the pilot serious difficulties in controlling the rotor head.

The tail rotor drive system is based on a ballraced 8 mm Ø stainless steel drive shaft.
The model shown in the pictures is fitted out with optional scale accessories.
